The name comes from Tamil: *oli* (ஒலி sound / ஒளி light) — audio + video — and *vasal* (வாசல்) — doorway.

## What Olivasal is

A general-purpose video conferencing platform (not vertical-specific) built on the LiveKit SFU. The differentiator is ownership: single-tenant or multi-tenant deployments where the customer holds the media, recordings, and AI transcripts — on managed cloud or fully self-hosted, air-gapped capable, with no proprietary cloud dependencies. AI recap/transcription and end-to-end encryption are first-class, not add-ons.
